Has anyone here tried to enable one of the Modbus 8 Channel Relay Boards offered by Widgeneering? Also to control it using a Widgeneering RGBIO8 board?

In firmware 2.6, I can set up the RGBIO8 board (by enabling it in the config.h file) and all works correct including RGB colour menu.

BUT I'm struggling to find a way to enable the Modbus Relay Board in firmware 2.6, and configure it to run off an RGBIO8 board.

I haven't done it with 2.6, but I worked through all of the bugs with using the modbus relay and rgbio boards in 2.7 for my system. The basis of those fixes will be in 2.8, but for now if your willing to use 2.7 from the development branch you should be able to move forward and I can help you through it.

I would be quite interested to try out v2.7 to enable both boards. How do I do this?

When will v2.8 be ready?

I think were trying to get it out sometime in October, but I don't have the schedule in front of me.

How computer savy are you? You need to grab the dev branch either using git or download it from the GitHub site. If you get that far try following the readme to compile an image. If your able to do that, the config changes and loading of image should be easy with a little guidance.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for you reply and help so far. I have the dev branch file downloaded from github.com/OSCSYS/brewtroller/archive/develop.zip for v2.7. I also have the latest v2.6.6 which has the latest Phoenix profiles added.

Where do I go from here?

That's the old repo used by OSCSYS. That changed when BT changed hands. Have a look at www.brewtroller.com/pages/development for details on the new repo.

After you get the files (github.com/brewtrollergit/brewtroller/archive/develop.zip) from the development branch, read the README (github.com/brewtrollergit/brewtroller/blob/develop/README.md), see if you can handle those steps. It will require compiling the source with cmake, make, and using avrdude to load the image on your phoenix.

If your able to do that, then you just have to change a few config settings in config.h.in and HWProfile.h to enable rgbio and modbus relay.
